What We Found This Weekend!

This weekend the thrift stores and yard sales seemed to be chock full of Christmas stuff already! We of course don't mind finding some Christmas goodies but there wasn't much Halloween/Fall/Thanksgiving goodies to be found!

We found another set of salt and pepper shakers to add to our Christmas shaker collection! They are just too cute and will look lovely with the rest of our sets!

We found this plastic santa which has the cutest little face!

This Santa wall plaque is so adorable with his rosy cheeks and a hint of silver in his beard! We don't know the maker but it does say Made In Japan. He will look great in our kitchen this Christmas!

We found this strand of foil Christmas lights, we couldn't believe they all worked!

Flea Market Finds and Some Fall Decor

Hello, there strangers! We have been working on some really fun Fall projects, but we are in working on a bunch at the same time! So you know that means we haven't quite completed any yet...Soon enough! We started putting out some of our Fall decor...We are so ready for Fall and the weather has been sunny but nice and cool...It really is great after the Summer that we had and we just love Fall! We also have a couple finds to share...

We found this adorable Sunnie Miss Toaster at the Flea Market yesterday...We have been wanting one for a long time...It's too cute! This Kewpie doll we found at a Flea Market a while back and the little treat bag we found at a thrift store. We are in the middle of making the Kewpie doll a Halloween costume...Yes, we are silly like that! :)

This is part of our hutch which isn't done being decorated since we just started getting our Halloween decor from the attic...

We have a few different trays that we trade out with the season. We love how this tray warms the place up!

We found this old milk bottle and this very cool Tonka dump truck at two different Flea Markets a couple weekends ago...The milk bottle is straight from the Garden State!

A closer look at the milk bottle with its neat cowboy decal...It says "STAY ON TOP with AMERICA'S #1 FOOD MILK". It will look lovely with some flowers especially a few stems of sunflowers.

Here is a cool Junior Cook Book with a pretty gingham cover and an adorable graphic...The refrigerator booklet looks so sweet with the daughter helping her mother and their matching hairdo's and outfits! We also love jam jars, and have a small collection going. We love this little strawberry and couldn't pass it up at the thrift store!

Hey, there! Did you all have a lovely weekend? Ours was busy as usual. We are still working on those projects we were going to share with you last week, but then the washer broke and we were dealing with that! It's always something... We should have those projects to share hopefully by the weekend and some Fall decor to show also : ) This Saturday we hit four yard sales and three thrift stores, and we found some really great things! We found a lot of treasures! Here are some of the things we found...

We found this cute heart pinecone wreath, which is perfect for the upcoming season!

We found a couple of these Santa Die Cuts, still in their packaging. We couldn't pass up his sweet rosy cheeked face.

The package also came with this...

We decided to take him apart and spray paint him more white and the pumpkin a brighter orange.

This roll has the words and notes to the song "Joy to the World". We thought this was really neat, and we can't wait to use this with our Christmas decor!

Bring On The Fall!

Hello, there! How are you all doing? Lately we have been really anticipating the Fall. We have started working on projects and getting our decor ready. Are we the only ones? We are ready for the leaves to start changing and the mums to start blooming! Here is some Fall decor that we have been getting together.

This Lefton owl planter that we found at a thrift store is too adorable!

This owl was also found at a thrift store. He is made out of plaster and has a hook on the back for hanging.

This Hallmark cookie jar is too cute, and we couldn't pass it up!

This owl was found at an antique store a couple years ago. You put a light inside, it's really cool!

We hope you enjoyed our little Fall collection. We can't wait to bring out more!

Retro Chair Makeovers!

Hello, there! We can't believe that it has been almost a month since our last post. We have been working on so many projects and Grandmom Betty has been up to visit from Florida. Here is a BIG project we have been working on and my oh my did these need some help! We really think they turned out lovely!

We got these three chairs off of Craiglist for $30. One of the chairs is a rocker.

As you can see they were in bad shape with a lot of rust!

These chairs had 6 layers of paint!! And there were also holes due to rust corrosion.

YIKES! We used Bondo to repair the holes and it worked wonders!

It took us a long time to strip all the paint off of these! Then we used a wire brush drill extension to take off the rest of it. We regret that we didn't take pictures when they were completely down to the bare metal because they were as shiny as a brand new quarter. We were just trying to finish them before Grandmom Betty got here!

All primed and ready to go!

We still have to spray a shiny protective coat. We just really are in love with these!

Next we are going to repair the cracks on our concrete porch and give it a makeover!

All over the thrift stores, that is!! Hello, again! How is your week going? It has been hot and humid all week...ahh Can't wait for Friday!! Although it is supposed to be 100 not counting the humidity! We need to get some painting done on some outdoor RETRO : ) furniture we picked up off of Craiglist...Hopefully we can get a lot accomplished after work tomorrow! Any how...We wanted to share more recent thrift finds...

We love this cowboy boot!

This is a pillow sham cover that just wasn't finished being sewn, but the deer is so darling. We are going to finish it up and put it in our living room.

We always love a good Christmas ornament...Because you can never have too many, right? ; )

Isn't this just the cutest? So kitschy!

This Is A Hoot!

Hello, there. Sorry that it has been a while since we posted. Busy, busy! We have some things to show you today. First up is a furniture makeover we just finished. We got this piece of furniture from a thrift store for $25, it is solid wood. We didn't get a picture with the drawers since we were so eager to start! As you can see this had a lot of scuffs and knicks...

With a lot of sanding and hard work this was restored to it's original beauy...

We are very pleased with the way it turned out!

We also wanted to share two recent thrift finds...

This adorable owl lamp...The light works, we love this!!

And a picture of two sweet owls...We need to get matting for this frame...The picture is just so sweet and colorful!

We have more upcoming projects that once completed we will be sharing!

A Blast From The Past, 1970s Style!

Hello, there. We have some great finds from this weekend from the thrift stores and yard sales. All our finds seem to have a theme: 1970s! We sure found some neat things!

We love these Sears Roebuck "Merry Mushroom" mugs that we found at a yard sale, they are from 1978. We have been looking for the canisters that go with these. We have two so far! They are so cute and kitschy! Our owl collection goes well with them.

A new addition to our owl collection found at a yard sale...Aren't they adorable?

We were lucky to find this apron at a thrift store. The stitching is beautiful, and we love yellow gingham!

This darling fawn is an etsy find. We got her for a great deal, and she looks sweet with our deer collection.

This next find is very unique. We don't really know much about this, but it is a bank. How cool and retro!

Hello, there! Are you all having a lovely week? Have you found any goodies at the thrift store lately?? We have been finding some great goodies lately!

We found this adorable doll trunk at a thrift store! Isn't it so sweet with it's little kitty design?!

And who could pass up this sweet lamb planter...Also found at the same thrift store...It was our lucky day!

We found this pyrex creamer and sugar bowl at a yard sale for 50 cents! We have the matching tea cups! These will be great for over the winter!

This little bunny planter is so darling, and we couldn't leave it behind!

Fun Furniture Makeover

Hello, there! Did you all have a lovely weekend? We hit some sales this weekend and managed to find a couple of treasures to take home. We will show you our finds later this week.

Today I am going to show you what my mom painted for me!! My aunt recently gave me a nightstand that was in great condition. I just wanted to change a few things to make it more "me". It originally was white but needed a fresh coat of paint. I also wanted to change the knob, and we found a few that we liked. We finally picked this knob, cowgirl boot s are so cute!! Then we both decided that it would be a good idea to paint the floral design that was a part of the nightstand. We are so happy that we did. I came home one day and my mom had already painted it!! I love how she realized that the design on the inlay of the drawer looked like rope, so she painted that too! It turned out so cute. We hope that you like it too!

We Are Back!

Wow! It is hard to believe that it has been a little over a month since we last posted! We both have been so busy, but we sure did miss blogging!! We have projects and thrift/ yard sale finds to share with you all but today we are just going to do a quick post on part of our owl collection. We just love owls, and have quite the collection of owl decor. We are addicted to cuteness!

Hello, friends! We have been mighty busy lately working on projects! Like we have mentioned before, we like to switch out our pillow covers frequently for the season and etc. We fell in love with this Roy Rogers fabric that was given to us. We only had a small amount, but we wanted to make the most of it. We knew that we wanted to make pillows, but how to stretch out the fabric as much as possible? As usual the two of us got together and started brain storming on all the different ways to rearrange the fabric. We are quite happy with the outcome! We hope that ya'll love them too!!

Hello! Did you all have a lovely holiday? We are just stopping in quickly today to show you all our recent pyrex finds. We actually found these two pieces of the Spring Blossom print in seperate thrift stores within days of each other. We know some of you aren't crazy about the avocado color, but we think it is a great color for the Fall.

Hello, there! It's hard to believe that it has been almost two weeks since we last posted! We have had some luck at the thrifts lately and also at a rummage sale this past weekend. We couldn't wait to show all of you, of course!

Look at these tins! Aren't they darling? There are no markings on them, does anyone know what pattern or brand they are?

These two pitchers are so pretty! Again, no markings. We look forward to using them this Spring and Summer!

We found this pyrex bowl at Goodwill for only $2.99! It's in great condition, and will be great for fall dinners.

This is just too cute! We couldn't pass it up.

We also scored these Nancy Drew books. They are from the 1960s-1970s. We were really excited about this find!

We will be showing more finds later this week!

Weekend Thrift Finds

Hello, there! Did you all have a lovely weekend? The weather was very Spring-like this weekend. We spent our Saturday running to our favorite thrifts, surprisingly there were no yardsales to be found! We found some goodies at the thrifts, though.

These plates were found at the new thrift. We did some searches on them but nothing came up. They were made in Japan and look like they are from the 1970s. They were all taped together so we thought that they all said snacks, but we were happily surprised that they were all different!

We couldn't get over how cute this little shelf (or spice rack?) is!!

These bunny pictures are just so sweet, we snatched them up quick!

This tree topper is in great condition and is from Woolworths.

On a side note: Woolworths went out of business in 1997 (in the US). Also...Foot Locker is run by the same company. : )

Lastly, we have a set of six pretty Christmas cocktail napkins...

Exciting Thrift Finds!

Hello, there! How is your week going? We have been so busy! We have finished some projects and have yet to get pictures of them! We hit some thrift shops this weekend, and two yardsales. A new thrift store opened up closeby! The Grand Opening was this weekend! This new thrift store is also right by the Goodwill and another thrift store that we frequent. We have seen the Coming Soon signs for a while now and have been patiently waiting, luckily we were going to the Goodwill and the other thrift and saw all the balloons! We ended up buying three goodies from there, but didn't take pictures yet! Anyway, we have been meaning to show you some things that we have found recently.

We rarely ever find Pyrex at the thrift stores! And imagine our surprise when we found one of our favorite prints...We were so excited, and smiling ear to ear!! Ahh...The simple things that make us happy!

This print is another favorite...We found it at the same thrift!! Both are in such great condition.

We found this sweet strawberry spoon rest at Goodwill...

We were so happy to find this adorable owl ornament, we just love owls! Speaking of owls, we have several owl things that we have yet to show on our blog. The tiny wreaths from Woolworths will be a great addition to a project we have been working on since before Christmas! We love the colors of the Christmas coasters from Hallmark...

We just love the kitsch feel of this squirrel and peanut!

Thrift Finds

Hello, there! Did everyone have a good weekend?! After a couple of weeks with no thrifting goodies... We have been pretty lucky this past week while out thrifting and have finally found some things to come home with!

This cute container is by Corning Ware. It is in excellent shape. We love this bright cheery yellow!

This shaker is so pretty, we love the floral print! Only 49 cents! We are going to put cinnamon sugar in this.

Yellow seems to be the theme! We love this juice container with its lemon print.

We found these milkglass casserole bowls...

We could not pass up this set of six coasters. They only cost one dollar!! They say "Whose Deal", too cute!

We picked up this spoon rack for 99 cents. We don't have any spoons to put on it yet, but we are looking forward to finding some!

We Won A Giveaway!

A while back we won a giveaway from Sherrie at A Conversation At Goodwill. Due to the weather, it took a little time to get here. That is why it took us time to post it! This was our first giveaway that we won! :) How exciting! Here is what we won...

Two wall plaques with chickens, one says "I love quilting! Keep me in stitches!", the other says "Quit you squawking and start sewing. Sewing with the chicks." How cute! We also won a Goodwill bag that we can take on our thrifting adventures! We only found one mug...We are hoping to go to another HomeGoods by us and find atleast one more...Since we both love tea!

Thrifty Treasures

Hello, there! Today we are going to show you some recent thrift finds. Like we have said before, the thrift stores around here have been bare but we did manage to find a few things! It snowed here last night, and to think that we thought it was done for the season! Today it was sunny and seemed to melt it some. We like the snow just not the mess! Plus we are itching to get to some yard & garage sales! Due to the weather we did get some sewing done which is always good! We will show you later in the week! Now for the thrifty finds...

First up, we have this great apron. We love the fall-ish colors and would like to applique an owl pocket and embroider around it.

We know Christmas is long over but... We found A Santa Claus figurine with little angels by Lefton...and couldn't pass it by especially for 95 cents!

We also found this Snoopy and Woodstock ornament by Hallmark, and we just love the Peanuts! This pyrex refigerator dish was found a while back, but the lid had a chip. Recently we came across a lid in excellent condition!

Today we would like to share a couple things for Rednesday. Last year we made these pot holders for Valentine's Day, the idea is from Martha Stewart. We want to make another set with pinks using a floral print and maybe pink gingham...We just bought these darling little Dairy Queen wagons to go with our Dairy Queen napkin holder...Don't they look sweet?

A finished project

A few years ago we saw a project on HGTV where one of the designers turned an old window into a picture frame. We just loved it! Ever since then we kept looking for the right window so we could make our own. We came across one on Craigslist and finally got around to doing it (after having it for over a year...)! We have seen other people who have also done this since then. There are a lot of other neat ideas floating around out there. Don't you just love when you finish a project that has been on the back burner for so long?!

Our Weekend Finds

Hello, there! Did everyone have a lovely weekend? The weather wasn't so lovely Saturday, but Sunday was all sunshine...and we just love the sunshine! So, we decided to get out and stop at a couple of our favorite thrifts. Although, thrifting hasn't been all that great around here. We can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can get to some yardsales/garagesales!

This weekend we found a Bing Crosby record in great shape...We have been on the look for a record player and hope to find one soon!

A cute Charlie Brown puzzle by Hallmark, who doesn't love a good puzzle once in a while?

Our favorite find was this Homco elf/fairy. We have seen the set of these in antique stores and online. Sadly, this was the only one there. We found it at Goodwill, this particular Goodwill is so disorganized and things that go together are usually spread out throughout the store. A while ago we bought a set of 6 tea cups...A few days later we went back and found the saucers. We figured that whoever donated them just didn't have the saucers anymore, but luckily we stopped back in and found them. We know that they didn't have them out the day we bought the tea cups because we always look around the store a couple times to make sure we didn't miss anything. So...maybe we will come across them in a couple days or maybe the other two had been broken...?

Tune back in tomorrow for a project that we just finished!!

We just love this Coke sign that we recently came across at a local antique shop. It certainly is weathered, which we think adds to the charm. The sign fits perfectly into our kitchen. Doesn't it make you want a Coke?

Aren't they a lovely pair?! We found these babies online for a reasonable price. We just had to have them! They were in great shape, although the meow buttons do not work which is fine with us! Grandmom Orde had the same ones :) and we love everything about those times. Looking at this set in the hutch brings back

sweet memories.

This second pair we found at a local Church Thrift Shop. We couldn't pass these little guys up! Not for $1.50. They are by Lefton.

And we snapped up this lovely set of cowboy (cowgirl?) boots...

This is the hutch that we bought off of Craigslist. It took time and hard work to paint this, but it was well worth it! Don't mind the before pictures because we almost forgot to take them!! We already started sanding and painting when we realized it!

Hello, how was your Christmas and New Year celebration? We had a wonderful Christmas! We hope you all did as well. Any resolutions? Our resolution is to complete the many projects we have. We started the New Year off right by finally painting our vintage dairy queen napkin holder. We also finished painting our hutch, and we will show it later this week. Another project is also in the works!

Desk Makeover

Recently we worked on re-doing a desk that we got for free! It is solid wood even the drawers have wood sides. It just was in major need of a makeover! We almost forgot to take a picture of the before, but luckily we remembered. This is actually after we took off the handles and sanded a little bit, but you get the idea. Here it is...

We do have to paint the top one more time because you can see brush strokes, but overall we think it turned out pretty darn good! We lined the drawers with red and white gingham, but didn't get a picture yet.

We are currently working on a hutch that we just bought. We are also painting that white. We just hope we can finish tomorrow so it is done for Christmas! We are going to display our little collection of salt and pepper shakers, and dishes of course.

I can't believe it has been so long since we have posted! We have been so busy getting things together for Christmas as we are sure you have been as well! The thrifting around here has just been terrible! We decided we must stop at some antique stores! We have goodies to show you! Another thing we have yet to share is pictures of our recent trip to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, that will have to wait for another day. Oh and we almost forgot to tell you about a hutch we recently bought on Craigslist that we are painting at the moment, can't wait to show you that too! LOL See...this is why we haven't had much time to post!!

This tractor we found at a local antique store. We are hoping to find the wagon that goes with it or a wagon that fits just right!

I saw this apron at one of the antique stores we stopped at on the way to Longwood Gardens. I really loved it, and I decided to get it later on since we were planning on going back there. Anyway we ended up not having time to go back! The next day my aunt called the owner and had it sent to her. She gave it to me as a gift! How lucky!!

Hello! How is your weekend going? Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Hit any black friday sales? Not us, we just went thrifting! We found a couple of things...

We love this adorable 1950s style refrigerator ornament. It is by Hallmark and it's from 2007, but it was just too cute to pass up!! We love the "homey" details they added...the cute little drawing..."Merry Christmas" letter magnets...

First of all I would like to say Happy Birthday to my wonderful mother, Laura! We will show you one of the things I got her. Recently we have been quite obsessed with vintage salt and pepper shakers. When my mom (Laura) was a little girl, her grandmother had a salt and pepper shaker collection and she would admire it every time she went there. We decided to start a collection of our own! We also have been trying to find ones that her grandmother had, and we have found a few on the internet that her grandmother had in her collection. We haven't had any luck in finding any at the thrifts. Although we aren't in any rush to find a bunch because the hunt is always fun! We have a set of three so far, which is a great start! We want to show you of course! The cute little doggies are one thing that I got my mom for her Birthday! Aren't they adorable??

Not this Monday but the following Monday we are going to Philadelphia's Longwood Gardens for their Christmas display. We have never been there but we always wanted to go (we are very excited!). We are going with some family and friends (a girl's day out!). We are also stopping at antique shops along the way, we can't wait! Perhaps we will find another set?!

Weekend Finds!!

This weekend we were very lucky to find some great items to add to our Christmas decor. First we found cute blocks that read "NOEL". If you flip them over they are green letters. How cute!! We are going to put them in a wreath or make them into an ornament. We found the most darling candy cane and snowman ornaments. (Like we needed more ornaments for the tree!) We do, we do!!

We found this adorable night light at Kohls. It was on sale so we couldn't pass it up!

We found this set of salt and pepper shakers with a cutesy santa clause napkin holder at Goodwill.

These angels by Precious Moments were our favorite find. A friend of ours has this set, and we just loved them. Now we have our very own set!

Now we just can't wait to decorate for Christmas. We feel like we should wait until after Thanksgiving. When are you decorating? Any fun finds this weekend?

My sister had a pattern for this sewing basket and we both decided to make one. They turned out so darn cute. I picked out some fabric I had laying around the house for projects such as this. I used alot of my brights for this one. This is the inside with colorful pockets for my sewing accessories.

In this picture is the flower pincushion and a little heart shaped scissor holder.

I really love this basket, but the pattern did not include handles. I'm thinking of adding large buttons on the sides and making a braided handle that will also be removable.

My sister took her basket to the shop to display before I had a chance to take pictures of her basket. Her color combination was very cute she used oranges, green, yellow, light purple, pink. She said she would email them to me so I can post them.

Grandmom Betty's Pretties!

Hello, everyone! We know we are a little late in showing you all this, but here are some things we sent to Grandmom Betty for Mother's Day.

First we made a card with a cute little banner. We cut out triangles from scrapbook paper and used string to attach them. We added a sweet saying inside, which was found here. We don't remember where we got the image from. Woops! If we find it again, we will make sure to give credit!!

Then we made this adorable case for her sunglasses.

Grandmom Betty sews a lot so we bought her button pins!! They are so cute, we had to buy some for ourselves too!!

She also gardens a lot, and this garden stake reminded us of her so in it went!

We saved the best for last!! My mom, Laura, made this sweet pin cushion. It was inspired by the Cath Kidston's pin cushion, and others when doing a search she came across this one here.

Later in the week we will show you all what I got my mom for Mother's Day!!

I got the most perfect surprise today for my birthday!! I'm sure everyone and anyone has heard of Serena from The Farm Chicks and her book The Farm Chicks In The Kitchen. Today I got my very own copy that was also signed by Serena!! Of course I have my lovely mother, Laura to thank for that!! To top it off Serena even commented on our blog!! Could it be a more perfect birthday?!

Hmm...I wonder what is inside!

I was so happy to see this book!!

Then I saw that it was also signed!! (I was in shock!!) =)

My mom also got me these adorable tags that are too cute to open just yet!!

Hello, everyone! My oh my, it has been a while since we have posted a project!! Yesterday we finally got around to finishing one of the many that we are working on! We find ourselves wanting to be outside in the garden now that the weather is getting warmer and the flowers are blooming. We will have to take photos this weekend and show you all.

We found this project in a magazine, tore the page out, and filed it away in our craft binder. We think it was from a Martha Stewart magazine, but it doesn't say it on the page. As you can see, this page has been around for a while. We have so many buttons, and what a great idea we came across! This project was simple, it only involves a little bit of embroidery. What a fun Spring-y/Summer-y project!

My oh my, we have been so busy! It has been a little over two weeks since we have blogged!! Can you believe that it is already April? We are currently working on some projects, none completed. You know how that goes! It is finally starting to feel like Spring in our neck of the woods. We have daffodils and tulips budding. We can't wait to see them bloom! We haven't done much in the yard because we had rain earlier in the week and the ground is still damp and muddy. This weekend the weather is supposed to be pleasant, sunny and in the 70's. : ) We hope to accomplish much this weekend whether in the yard, crafting, or sewing!!

Today we would like to share our napkin dispenser that we recently found. We have had napkins to fit this size dispenser for awhile and have been searching high and low for one of these!! They are so cute!! We wanted to have one to set on a picnic table for when we have barbeques and to display on the counter in our kitchen since we love the 1950's look. We are so happy to have found one!! It needs some work, the previous owner must have planned to give it stripes hence the pink tape. We can't wait to fix it up!!

We are done the button project!! It just kept getting bigger and bigger. Ideas kept swirling around in our heads and they were nonstop!! We had originally planned on doing just one pillow, which was inspired by Better Homes and Gardens and can be found here, and adding it with some throw pillows that would possibly be made from vintage sheets that we have BUT this pillow sprouted other ideas.
It started out like this...

We came up with different ideas so that we would have four pillows altogether since we have a set of four pillow forms that we regularly change out with different shams throughout the year. We always make them "envelope" style so we can use the same pillow forms and wash the shams! We love to switch them out because it is an inexpensive way to spruce things up. Like we said before, the project idea started from Better Homes and Gardens but from there we made it our own!! We are quite pleased with the way our pillows turned out. We drew up our own pattern for the birds as well as the tree trunk.

Luckily, we had a lot of green buttons and a piece of fabric which had a print that resembles bark.

We decided to add a bird...

Then along came another pillow with a mommy bird and her babies...

This one turned out even better than we expected!!

Another bird with embroidered grass and flowers, so Spring-y! Love this : )

Then we thought of this idea on our own!! This one is a work in progress...We may add more. Some of the buttons in this picture have a weird tint to them from the lighting...In person they are clear! We will have to take another picture on a day when it isn't so dreary! (It has been raining on and off since Friday and there are trees and telephone poles down everywhere. Yikes!)

Was it worth the wait?! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!!

Hello, everyone! We were supposed to post our button project but it turns out that today was just too jam-packed. It also just so happened to be one of those projects that grows into an even larger one than anticipated. And just when you think you're just about done, you notice it needs a little something here and there... When we started this project we had a certain idea in mind and from this idea it just started to stem into so much more!! Does this happen to anyone else? We normally are great at making deadlines!! LOL. We are sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to it. We can PROMISE that Monday WILL be the day that we post it.

Here are some vintage sheets from a stop at the thrift store. They will be turned into aprons, valances, pillow shams, or something like that...Ahhh...So many projects that we want to do!!

This is our new sewing box that we got from JoAnn's. It was 40% off and we really needed one!!

Eggs Inspired By Cath Kidston's Designs

We love Cath Kidston's designs!! How we wish she had a store here in the US still. We only found out about her a couple months back and fell in love with all her style!! Her prints are so bright, cheery, and refreshing. Since we haven't had much luck finding her stuff on Ebay or Amazon, we decided we would have to come up with something! We had this ceramic bunny with eggs for a while and finally got around to painting it. We took turns painting and had a lot of fun deciding what designs we would paint. We are pretty happy about the way that it turned out! But we are no match for Cath Kidston...

Thrift Finds...

Hello! How was everyones' weekend? We both have been super busy with Spring cleaning, work, and etc. But...Today we went to go get tires for mom's truck and since there was a thrift store down the street, And we HAD to go!...Because why waste the gas for just one stop? Atleast that was our excuse! Hehe. Anyway we picked up two wine decanters for my Aunt Kim's Birthday (mom's sister) since she collects them, a vintagey bird cage (which was filled with yucky dusty candles and old artificial flowers), an enamel pot that we are going to use as a planter in our garden, and a wind chime made with beads and melted/hammered spoons. We have several ideas swirling around in our heads about what we are going to do with the bird cage...and we will be posting the outcome...But FIRST we have to finish all the other projects we have going on right now...So little time...So many crafty projects to do!

Last week my Great Aunt Dot (mom's aunt) passed away. We miss her so very much! I'm happy to have met her, though. Some people I know didn't even get a chance to meet their grandparents. So how lucky am I to have met such a beautiful person, my Great Aunt at that! I even got to go on a day trip with her, my grandmother, and my mom. I also visited her house several times, and it was just so homey. For the funeral they handed out this photo with a nice poem on the back. This post is in her loving memory.

In the Spring and Summer we have an abundance of flowers. We like to cut and display them in our collection of vases. The three on the bottom right were cappuccino drink containers. We cleaned them up and added pretty ribbon.

What Are The Odds?

Today we got up extra early to go thrifting! The selection was a bit picked over, so we were kind of disappointed. We didn't know it was senior citizen day, so that was why it was crowded even more so than usual. We did find a gem, though! We have been on the search for vintage sheets, tablecloths, fabric, and aprons. It hasn't been easy, the shops around our area don't quite have what we're looking for. Today was our day, though! We searched the racks and found this beauty, and thought the print looked familiar. We thought about it and realized it looked a lot like the print on one of The Farm Chicks aprons we saw on Serena's blog, but didn't think it was exactly the same. Anyway, we brought it home, and to our surprise it really was the same print. How lucky are we? We aren't sure yet what we're going to do with the sheet, but we're thinking maybe valances. What do you think?

Heart Napkin Holders

We know we're a little late posting these, but they're so cute that we had to share. We made these pretty napkin rings the other day from leftover fabric from our heart pot holders, we don't like to waste! The fact that they coordinate with our pot holders is also a plus. We wanted them to have a vintage look, and the heart buttons added the perfect touch. They didn't look right with just the buttons, so my mom thought to make yoyos as a back-drop. What a clever idea! We work so well together, sharing our ideas. Oh and just in case you didn't notice, we love gingham! We hope that everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day. We spent it watching movies, eating popcorn, and other goodies! How about you?

It's A Winter Wonderland

Hello, there! We are new to blogging, boy have we been missing out! This is a mother and daughter blog to be exact. We are two hard working gals trying to squeeze in some "creative time" in our busy schedules. Our blog was named after my mother (Michele's grandmother) Betty, who continues to be an inspiration to us (she is the Jill of all trades). We both have a deep appreciation for the past. A time when things were more simple. We especially love vintage items of the 1940s-1950s era's. We enjoy sewing, thrifting, decorating, re-purposing, gardening, crafting, cooking, baking, and etc. Throughout our blog you will find projects ranging from any of the above. For our first post, we would like to share some photos of my mother (Betty) and father's (Ron) home, the home that I grew up in. My father passed away of lung cancer seven years ago and my mother sold their home because she couldn't afford to stay there. The maintenance of the yard and such was also a lot to handle on her own. The guy who bought it knocked it down and built five large houses on the land. We know there are people out there that restore old homes, but it seems like there aren't enough. Maybe it's just us, but it just seems like everything is being so "built up". Now, moving on to those beautiful pictures...

We plan to share more pictures like these. The trellis and mailbox post were made by my father, Michele's grandfather. Those are just a couple of the projects he has done (we will share more soon). Below are other old pictures of my parents and grandparents.
